Summary
The subproject focuses on strengthening sustainable urban food systems through research, training, outreach, and partnerships in agri-food entrepreneurship. It supports PhD and MSc research on food provisioning networks, agri-food business models, and food governance, while also engaging local government, producer groups, processors, and other stakeholders. The subproject contributes to capacity building at Ardhi University, development of the MSc programme in Sustainable Urban Development, and the establishment of the African Centre for Sustainable Cities Studies.
Pilot sites we are working on are Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo, with engagement in selected municipalities and local producer/processor groups.
Currently 3 PhDstudents and 3 Masterstudents are supported by this subproject.
