Safe, inclusive and sustainable urban transport system

Summary

This sub-project aims at exploring Urban transport challenges through building capacity in education, research, and societal outreach in urban transport  which in turn will address current transportation challenges in Dar es Salaam (traffic congestion and accidents, spatial expansion, increasing motorization, and mono-centric city structure).

Pilot Sites

          ·         Gerezani for PhD in traffic safety among motorcycle users,

          ·           BRT phase one route(Kariakoo to Kimara) for PhD on transport impact assessment

          ·           Ilala area for Masters in Transportation science studio

          ·           Gongo la Mboto centre


8 masters and 2 PhD students will be involved during the first 5 years.
